I hope your August is off to a great start! Mine has been really busy so far, but I’m hoping to catch up on some reading this weekend and have some time to relax a bit. Here’s this week’s recap of Amy’s podcast, 4 Things with Amy Brown. Go listen to the full episode if you haven’t already, and be sure to subscribe to the podcast!
- Perfection and body image. Jessica Honegger, founder of Noonday Collection, was back this week and talked about the importance of embracing our bodies and changing our mindsets — perfect shouldn’t be our goal.
- Adam Bobo: sleep, it’s important. Amy recapped a post that her friend and nurse anesthetist, Adam Bobo, shared recently. In it, he answered a question that he often gets about how to improve overall health. He said that adequate and quality hydration and sleep are key. We should be getting a minimum of seven hours of sleep each night, with a goal of at least eight hours.
- Jeremy Cowart’s adoption from Haiti. Photographer, Jeremy Cowart, was back this week to share his story of adopting from Haiti. He and Amy talked about their experiences and the process they went through.
- Washing your face the right way. Did you know that using hot water to wash your face can strip its essential oils and cause it to be dry? Cold water can help reduce puffiness, but Amy shared that she recently learned the ideal temperate is lukewarm water.
Here are the 4 things I’m loving most this week.
- Meeting Jordan Lee Dooley. If you haven’t heard of Jordan Lee Dooley, you’re missing out! As her Instagram bio says, she “helps purpose-driven women reach their potential.” Jordan is the host of She podcast, and author of the best-selling book, Own Your Everyday. When I found out she was doing a book signing in my area, I had to go! She’s such a sweetheart and had a lot of helpful insight to share. I love her book and highly recommend it!
- Peanut crusted tofu. As soon as I saw @darngoodveggies post this recipe, I knew I had to make it! It was so easy and really delicious! I served mine with brown rice, and even put the leftovers in my air fryer the next night, and it crisped up nicely. Next time, I’m going to add this tofu to a salad with lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers, and ginger dressing. Yum!
- Vitamin C face cleanser. I tend to rotate products, and wanted to try something different to wash my face with, but I still wanted a good, natural product without breaking the bank. I came across this Vitamin C cleanser on Amazon and am loving it! It removes all my makeup and really moisturizes my face.
- Darn good chili mix. In the colder months, I like to make veggie crock pot chili, but I have to plan ahead and chop up my veggies early in the morning so it can cook all day. So, when I don’t have time for that and a chili craving hits on a rainy day, this mix is the next best thing. Just add water and tomato paste! You could cook meat separately and add it, too.
That’s all for this week. Thanks for reading, and see you back here next week!
